The Rutland project is a rustic, contemporary custom built home in The Heights section of Houston. What used to be an old shoe factory was replaced with a 4,200 square foot contemporary home. The property is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, solar powered and took approximately 1½ years to complete. We are proud to note our work on the Rutland project was recognized by the Association of Interior Designers (ASID) in 2018 for its innovative design and also prominently featured in the August 2018 issue of Houston Lifestyle & Home.
Prominent materials used on this project include Austin chopped limestone, steel and polished concrete. We emphasized open spaces and even included fully retractable sliding glass doors from Fleetwood Windows & Doors connecting the kitchen and living common area with an exquisitely manicured courtyard. There are two master suites within the home, three linear fireplaces and a cozy reading nook overlooking the living room and kitchen.
We were fortunate to collaborate with several local artisans in the Houston area on the Rutland project. Peck & Company manufactured all the custom steel and the light fixtures designed by L Design Group. Cabinet & Designs Inc collaborated with us in executing our designs of Woodmode cabinets. The house is furnished with custom designed furniture from Vanguard and Cantoni with a few additional pieces from Restoration Hardware. This was a great project and, along with the homeowner, we are delighted with the outcome!
